In response to the Chancellor’s 2024 Autumn Budget, Brian Lavery, Managing Director at CBRE Northern Ireland, said:
“There is no denying that the increased tax burden that the Autumn Budget has placed on businesses will present major challenges for employers and the Northern Ireland economy in general.
“However, there are some positives to be gleaned, particularly the unpausing of Growth Deals in key areas such as Mid South West and Causeway Coast and Glens. These initiatives, alongside the £1.5 billion earmarked for the Stormont Executive, offer substantial support for addressing the public sector funding challenges that have placed constraints on regional growth and investment.
“It is vital that the Northern Ireland Assembly makes maximum use of the budget it has been allocated, and spends the money in a way that helps position Northern Ireland as an attractive, resilient destination for investment and development.”
